Résumé
One of the main purposes of the bill is to facilitate the battle against organized crime, and to that end, it amends the Criminal Code in essentially three ways: 1. It makes murders connected with organized crime activity automatically first-degree murders, irrespective of whether they are planned and deliberate ; 2. It creates three new offences: - intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless about endangering the life or safety of another person ; - assaulting with a weapon or causing bodily harm to a peace officer ; - aggravated assault of a peace officer ; 3. It extends the maximum duration of a recognizance to two years for a person who has been previously convicted of a criminal organization offence, a terrorism offence or an offence of intimidating a justice system participant.
