Summary

The book has three main themes: the importance of an efficient and humane criminal justice system to counter effectively transnational organized crime, money laundering, sea piracy, terrorism and corruption; the primacy of crime prevention in criminal justice; and the tendencies, trends, and major developments in criminal justice internationally. The study shows the link between the global development of criminological thought and the three international goals of the UN: freedom from fear, freedom from want, and sustainable development.
