Summary

A consultative review aimed at evaluating the implementation of the 1999 Special Investigations Unit (SIU) reforms. The SIU is Ontario's civilian oversight body concerning death and serious injury of citizens arising in the course of police work. Those reforms stemmed from 25 consensus-based recommendations facilitated between 1997 and 1998. Recommended processes for facilitated talks capable of resolving other identified issues are also provided.
