Summary

"The Ontario Provincial Police is proposing changes to the way it bills for the policing services it provides to 324 municipalities across the Province. AMO created the OPP Billing Steering Committee in recognition of the widely disparate impact that the proposed OPP billing reform could have on communities and the shared interest of all municipalities in controlling police costs. The Steering Committee’s job was to review the proposed OPP billing model and to evaluate other alternatives that might address the different municipal concerns and interests raised since last fall. Given that the OPP intends to implement the new model by 2015, it was tasked with conducting its review and providing advice to the Province by early April 2014."--Page 3.
