OTTAWA, September 9, 2012 – The Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, today recognized the 2012 Canadian Fallen Firefighters Memorial Ceremony and highlighted the invaluable contributions of our fallen firefighters.
"Today, we pay tribute to the firefighters we have lost in the line of duty. We come together to commemorate their invaluable contributions and unquestioned devotion," said Minister Toews. "On behalf of our Government and all Canadians, I wish to express my sincere condolences to the families and colleagues who are mourning the loss of their loved ones. We will be forever grateful for their lives, service and ultimate sacrifice."
In the last year, twelve firefighters across the country have fallen in the line of duty. The Government of Canada commends the Canadian Fallen Firefighters Foundation for their outstanding efforts and dedication to preserving the memory of our heroes lost in the line of duty.
