OTTAWA, December 19, 2013 – The Honourable Steven Blaney, Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, today issued the following statement to congratulate recruits who have successfully completed the Officer Induction Training Program (OITP) at the CBSA College in Rigaud, Quebec.
“The OITP is part of a comprehensive approach to recruiting from a high-calibre of applicants, and training them to serve in an armed law enforcement agency.
The training provided to front-line border services officers is an indispensable strategy for making our communities safer and our economy stronger through the efficient flow of legitimate trade and travel.
Our government is proud of the significant investment it has made in the CBSA College. This state-of-the-art facility enables exceptional training, which is key to managing the border in today's complex world while providing excellence in border services.
I would like to congratulate all the recruits on their success. The academic excellence, respect and integrity they have displayed in completing the OITP are matched by their leadership and professionalism. These qualities will further strengthen CBSA's ability to ensure the safety and security of our borders.”
