Building on the capacity that was put in place over the past year and in 2004 (the Aboriginal Policing /Restorative Justice Community Integration Pilot Project), the community of Eabametoong First Nation together with Nishnawbe-Aski Police Services and Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services intend to continue to implement a process whereby pre-charge diversions from the justice system can occur for offenders (with particular emphasis on youth) in a manner that is culturally and traditionally suited to the needs of its community and its membership by way of Restorative Justice. |
