Purpose : |
The project will address the priority issues of violence among youth aged 14 – 19 and bullying; reach up to 175 youth at risk; and will be delivered in collaboration with the NL Department of Education; Eastern School District; local schools; Eastern Health Addiction Services; City of St. John’s Parks and Recreation Division, Royal NL Constabulary; Provincial Office of Youth Public Engagement; Memorial University of NL Faculty of Education; and numerous community agencies.
At the end of the five-year period, it is anticipated that the measurable results would include: increased academic achievement, attendance, and attachment to school and increased connection to the community while showing decreased levels of behavioral and discipline issues. Youth will also demonstrate an increased percentage of high school graduation, post-secondary attendance and employment. Ultimately, it is expected that the project will result in a reduction of anti-social, delinquent, and criminal behaviour. |
