Purpose : |
In March 2005, the AJEFM, in partnership with Pluri-elles and L'Entre-temps des Franco-Manitobaines, presented a day-long conference entitled Lutte contre la violence familiale [fighting family violence]. The purpose of the day-long conference was to: provide a learning opportunity, promote development and inform Canadians and the legal profession about family violence issues through an information session.
Pluri-elles and its two same partners propose to pursue this initiative to fight family violence in Manitoba by specifically targeting theworkplace as the
ideal place to spread this message to a wide population. Such a project was carried out in New Brunswick, supported by NCPC, and Manitoba would base its initiative on this one already in place:
- revision and adaptation of the kit to Manitoba's needs; the kit was created by the New Brunswick Family Violence and the Workplace Committee and is entitled Family Violence - It's Your Business - A Workplace Toolkit.
- Training of resource persons in Manitoba, by the creators of New Brunswick's kit, so that these persons can conduct sessions on family violence prevention throughout the province.
- Delivery of pilot workshops on family violence at a school, a Franco-Manitoban organization, a government office and a private-sector business, in order to test the product.- After the project is assessed, continue to hold workshops throughout the province (Phase III) in the four areas mentioned above.
