Purpose : The Association des centres jeunesse du Québec, three youth centres in Quebec, several community organizations and partners from McGill University, Université Laval, Concordia University, Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue and INRS - Urbanisation, Culture et Société will combine their expertise to better identify and understand the integration difficulties of young girls at risk for early motherhood and of Aboriginal young people, to identify the best practices regarding them, and to validate and disseminate a clinical tool in English and in French aimed at assessing and developing functional autonomy among these two target groups. In a first phase, a review will be made of promising practices concerning the two specific target clienteles, and interviews will be conducted among about 15 key informants, 30 young girls and 30 Aboriginal young people. The information gathered will help improve development of the clinical tool. There will then be a cross-cultural validation of the approach and the American tool (ACLSA) to improve the content of the kit used by workers to assist young people with difficulties. 150 young people will thereby receive direct services. They will contribute to validating the tools, be prepared to live autonomously and benefit from follow-ups for a year after their release.
