Purpose : |
Wilderness therapy and its ability to facilitate a positive change in behaviours of participants, ability to facilitate reflection on life choices and future goals, the development of a unique peer dynamic, and the type of relationships established with counsellors/mentors make this type of intervention very effective in working with at-risk youth. This project will address the factors listed above through York Regional Police Service (YRPS) police officers mentoring at-risk youth and at-risk youth participating in life skills training/workshops and a 7-day wilderness therapy outing. |
