Purpose : |
The Stop Now And Plan (SNAP)® model is a Canadian-based, internationally recognized program which employs a cognitive behavioural approach to help at-risk children decrease anger, aggression, antisocial and impulsive behaviour.
This project will deliver the SNAP Girls’ Connection program which supports learning social skills, problem solving techniques, self-control strategies and cognitive self-instruction among the target girls, aged 6 – 12, who have come into contact or are at risk of coming into contact with the police, and who display early signs of antisocial or aggressive behaviour.
The model also offers additional support through referrals to partner agencies to academic tutoring, family counseling, victim restitution and arson prevention programs
Between 10-15 girls and their families will be served each year for a total of 40-60 children over the four year project.
