Purpose : |
This project targets 105 students aged 14 – 19 who are at risk of dropping out of school with frequent suspension and chronic absenteeism, both of which are recognized as risk factors for later delinquency. This project will take place in two high needs communities: Peterborough and Belleville, Ontario, where access to resources for at-risk youth are not easily attainable. The objectives of the project are to address the risk factors that lead to on-going substance abuse and criminal activity with the goal of increasing graduation rates, decreasing violent criminal behaviours and conflict with the law.
