Résumé

"Part I is concerned principally with a discussion of the role of [civilian police, a.k.a.] CIVPOL, in contemporary peacekeeping activities. To place this role in some perspective a brief historical review is made of the use of CIVPOL in three peacekeeping missions commencing with the Congo in 1960. In Part II issues relating to the preparation and deployment of CIVPOL are discussed while in Part III some of the specific field experience and performance of CIVPOL in a recent peacekeeping mission is described. The document concludes in Part IV with a discussion of the likely future role of CIVPOL in the peacekeeping arena."--Page [17].
