Résumé
In this thesis, Alan Gewirth's theory of human rights framework will be applied to the issues surrounding surveillance technology for policing with specific examples for analysis drawn from programs and policies in Ottawa. The thesis seeks to contribute to a better philosophical understanding of the moral justification and specification of ethical norms governing the use of surveillance technologies for policing in Ottawa and Canada.
