Résumé

"The Yukon Government and the RCMP announced they would conduct a review of the RCMP’s police services in the Yukon aimed at maintaining and enhancing the public’s confidence in the RCMP in the Yukon Territory. The “Review of Yukon’s Police Force” (the Review) was initiated in the wake of expressions of concern regarding the manner in which some members of the RCMP were interacting with the communities they serve. The Commission’s approach to contributing to the Review included three interrelated yet distinct phases in order to obtain a fulsome picture of the existing public complaint process in the Yukon. The Commission: carried out on-site detailed reviews of RCMP public complaint files lodged between January 1, 2005 and May 31, 2010; met with a number of community stakeholders in the Yukon, recognizing that many do not engage the formal public complaint process; and obtained input from individual RCMP members stationed in the Yukon."--Page 1.
