Résumé
Because very little is known about how most of the 18,000 police agencies nationwide work with immigrant communities, in 2010, the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) partnered with the Vera Institute of Justice (Vera) to take a comprehensive look at how law enforcement agencies are developing effective police-immigrant relations. Vera’s Engaging Police in Immigrant Communities (EPIC) project is a national effort to identify, assess, and disseminate promising law enforcement practices that cultivate trust and collaboration with immigrant communities and merit replication. Vera staff conducted a comprehensive review of policing literature and consulted with policing experts to discern the underlying principles of promising practices for working with immigrant communities."--Executive summary.
