Every day, Canadians hear stories about how vulnerable computers are to viruses, how we all need to protect our personal information on line, and how Internet fraud schemes persist. We can lose money, assets, personal memories, even our very identities, simply by making one false click of a mouse or mobile device.

As easy as it is to lose it all online, it’s just as easy not to.

We can all take a few simple steps to help keep our personal information, our finances, our devices and our cherished sense of privacy from being violated by cyber criminals:

By visiting GetCyberSafe.gc.ca, Canadians can learn more about the threats they face online and how to take easy, straightforward steps to mitigate these risks.

Get Cyber Safe is the Government of Canada’s national public awareness initiative to help Canadians protect themselves and their families against a wide range of online threats.

The initiative stems from Canada’s Cyber Security Strategy, launched in October 2010, which highlights the Government’s plan for meeting the cyber threat and protecting our digital infrastructure. The Strategy is founded on three pillars: securing Government systems, partnering to secure systems outside the Government of Canada, and helping Canadians to be secure online.
