Résumé

"This paper will examine the development of Crime Reduction in British Columbia as a new approach to addressing crime. One of the key goals of this paper is to provide support for the notion that the type of crime reduction program currently being implemented in British Columbia represents a significant change not only for policing, but the broader Criminal Justice System (CJS). One of the critical foundational components of this strategy is the recognition that substantial progress in the reduction of crime is possible through the better integration of the agencies with roles in the prevention and reduction of crime. This shift represents a fundamentally different approach in terms of the manner in which the various components of the CJS view their own respective roles and, more importantly, how these components work cooperatively in an integrated fashion." -- Abstract (page i).
