2020-2021 Supplementary Estimates (A) Royal Canadian Mounted Police

- The RCMP is seeking an increase of $221.2 million in the directed 2020-2021 Spring Supplementary Estimates (A) which represents an increase of 6.3% over its Main Estimates of $3.5 billion.
- A major component of these Supplementary Estimates is an increase in funding of $203.1 million to the grant to compensate members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for injuries received in the performance of their duty. The access to this incremental funding for 2020-21 is required to allow disability pension payments to continue through the remainder of the fiscal year.
- Additionally, the RCMP is seeking $18.1 million for the balance of the funding announced in Budget 2019 to strengthen Royal Canadian Mounted Police policing operations. This will help fund the RCMP’s Force Generation activities to recruit, process, and train new cadets at Depot, in Regina.
The RCMP is seeking an increase of $221.2 million in spending authority in the 2020-2021 directed Spring Supplementary Estimates (A).
This amount consists of an increase of $203.1 million in the quasi-statutory Grant to compensate members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for injuries received in the performance of their duty. The inclusion of new members, and the compensation amounts approved are managed through Veteran’s Affairs Canada.
In addition there is $18.1 million to strengthen Royal Canadian Mounted Police policing operation within the Force Generation activities that fall under the Contract Policing Services Core Responsibility. Force Generation requirements represent all of the activities to recruit, process, and train new cadets at Depot, The funding was part of a Budget 2019 announcement to support RCMP operations.
